Host Family

Since 2000 de Bereklauw has been a approved location for young people to spend a year living abroad.

During their year the volunteer help with the day to day life of the community: caring for the animals, cooking, cleaning the common rooms, gardening, recycling,
cutting wood for the winter and all kinds of odd jobs that come up during their stay. Moreover the volunteer can make use of the different work shops: woodworking, smithy, mechanical, landscaping and artistic...in short, the volunteer has the chance over the year to learn many new skills if they take the initiative.

The close location of the university city alowes the volunteer to incorporate themselves in other mainstream or alternative activites.

The Bereklauw is not your average guest family. The location is close to approximately 20 other host families so volunteers can meet others in similar situations to compare notes and make contacts. This is a great way comes into contact with numerous other cultures (European, African, South American, Eastern Asia).
